In my first post in 2012 I will walk through the collaboration in MS Dynamics AX 2012 where it is bridging the gap between the transactions which occurred within the ERP and people.

Enterprise portal – role Centers provide an overview of information that pertains to a user’s job function in the business or organization. This information includes transaction data, alerts, links, and common tasks that are associated with the user’s role in the company. Role Centers also include reports that are generated by SQL Server Reporting Services or SQL Server Analysis Services. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 includes more than two dozen predefined Role Centers, which users can access from Enterprise Portal or the Microsoft Dynamics AX client. (source MSDN)

Workflow provides an approval matrix for a specific documents type, the document is moving from person to another under specific conditions configured in the workflow configuration in each module, the workflow elements are approvals, automatic tasks, flow controls, and tasks.

Alert management MS Dynamics AX 2012 enables users to create alert rules on any filed on the system, the alert can either be a status changed, record is created, and value is modified. The alerts triggers a pop-up notification on the screen, or an email can be sent to the user that needs to take action.

e-Mail notification is a facility to let MS Dynamic AX 2012 sends e-mail messages based on the alert management notifications and enables the user to open MS Dynamics AX 2012 through a link in the email body

Batch jobs is the recurring running jobs which automatically carries the alerts, workflows, and e-mail notifications
