We are used to receive a requirement from our customers and end users regarding editing master data in MS Dynamics AX forms and screens, and we could not handle this requirement probably in previous versions of MS Dynamics AX.
MS Dynamics AX 2012 have covered it through an out of the box solution which is Edit mode, when any user even administrators are logged in MS Dynamics AX 2012 in view mode and could not modify any master data records, should activate the edit mode.
This also applied on some transactions forms such as (but not limited to) Purchase Order, and Sales Order
This option makes the users alerted when they are in edit mode, and if they just need an inquiry from a form they could deactivate the edit mode.
